ABOUT LIGHT UP A LIFE

Light up a Life is an annual holiday-season fundraising campaign supporting The Arc Tennessee and the Technology Access Center (TAC). Every December, the two organizations join together to field events and a donations drive to raise critically needed funds that will directly support their continued work for people with disabilities in Tennessee.

URGENT NEED AT A CRITICAL TIME

As programs that support Tennessee’s disability community continue to be cut or severely slashed, Light up a Life’s sole mission is to enable direct funding support for services and access to assistance for those most in need without the reliance on state programs which have been affected by budget cuts and other factors. Funds raised through the Light up a Life campaign go directly to services and support for people with disabilities.

MAKE A GIFT

YOUR tax-deductible gift is desperately needed more than ever to help US serve people of all ages with disabilities in OUR own community. Please consider adding Light up a Life to your Holiday list of philanthropy.

BECOME A VOLUNTEER

It truly takes a village to positively affect the many people we serve. Even the smallest gift of your time can make a significant difference in someone’s quality of life – and it feels good, too!

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATIONS BEHIND THE MISSION:

THE ARC TENNESSEE

For over 60 years, The Arc Tennessee’s public policy efforts, individual advocacy, and public awareness activities have led to meaningful lives in the community for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).  The organization’s statewide network of dedicated staff and volunteers have positively impacted the lives of thousands of individuals with I/DD and their families through their tireless one-to-one support, education, mentoring and systems change efforts. Thanks to The Arc Tennessee, students with disabilities receive public education that had in the past been denied to them; students with disabilities have protections from inappropriate use of physical restraint or seclusion techniques; adults with disabilities are empowered to self-direct their services and manage their own staff; and buildings are more accessible to people with disabilities.

TECHNOLOGY ACCESS CENTER

Operated by the nonprofit corporation, Access Services of Middle Tennessee, Technology Access Center has offered services for middle Tennesseans with disabilities and functional limitations since 1989. Today, TAC continues to fulfill its mission to promote the independence and participation of individuals of all ages with disabilities in school, work, play and everyday activities through their use of assistive technology.

TAC services connect people who have disabilities or functional limitations to assistive technology resources that promote the independence and participation of individuals of all ages with disabilities in school, work, play and everyday activities.
